This post is to remind and encourage you to collect and donate any new or gently-used coats you can find (especially children’s coats) to the NY CARES COAT DRIVE. This can be done at many different locations in NYC – local police precincts, many/ most car dealerships – OR, if we can get just a few MWC volunteers we will collect coats from MWC’ers and drop them off for you. Couldn’t be easier, right? But first step is weeding out your closets, storage bins and old-clothes boxes. If you would like to volunteer to participate in a coat pick-up day(s), please email: firstname.lastname@example.org and put “COAT PICK-UP” in the subject line and let us know when you’re available.
The mission is simple and straight-forward: People are cold. Let’s help them get warm. For the last 31 years, New York Cares has channeled the generosity of New York City into its annual Coat Drive. Last year the COAT DRIVE distributed its two millionth coat, and this year the goal is to collect 100,000 new or gently used coats for social service agencies, public schools, transitional housing shelters, and other outlets to get coats as quickly as possible to those who need them. Last year 108,000 coats were distributed. As I look outside the window this morning and see a foreboding snow-sky, it’s clear that the time is NOW.
HOW DOES THE NY CARES COAT DRIVE WORK?
