This post is about an MWC evening outing to attend SELECTED SHORTS at Symphony Space on Wednesday, April 19th at 7pm. MWC’ers, go to the #selected-shorts channel on MWC-SLACK for more information, how to get your ticket, and to find out if there are any before or after plans. But don’t dawdle – Selected Shorts almost always sells out!
You don’t have to be in a MWC Book Group to attend SELECTED SHORTS with the group on April 19th – but it does seem like the perfect occasion for ALL of our book groups to go together. HOW GREAT IS IT THAT YOU LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY – THE HOME OF SELECTED SHORTS – which, quite frankly would be reason enough all by its itty-bitty self to live here. You can’t leave SELECTED SHORTS without feeling thankful that such a special event has been offered up so accessibly, simply and powerfully – and, yep, it’s just a beautiful day in the the neighborhood! (Thanks, Mr. Rogers!)
On April 19th, SELECTED SHORTS radio show host and author Meg Wolitzer (The Female Persuasion) takes the stage to host an evening of funny, surprising, and poignant stories about intertwined lives and complicated ties. This program celebrates the bonds we share – for better and for worse! With performances by Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus), Richard Kind (East New York), Julianna Margulies (The Morning Show), and more.
Selected Shorts is produced by Symphony Space and broadcast on more than 130 stations around the country. The series began in 1985 and enjoys sold-out performances to this day. Selected Shorts was conceived with a simple premise: take great stories by well-known and emerging writers and have them performed by terrific actors of stage and screen. Featuring stories around a lively theme, the favorite works of a guest author, or a special collaboration, each Selected Shorts event is a unique night of literature in performance.
