The 2018-2019 theater year is turning out to be a banner one! A wealth of both dramatic and musical offerings with tremendous star power, knock-out reviews – and a scarcity of seats. Call it a quirky economic indicator or maybe chalk it up to the “HAMILTON effect” but Broadway theater is as popular as it has ever been. Lucky us, the MWC has managed to secure several of the hottest-of-the-hot productions for 2019 – AND OUR TICKET ALLOTMENTS FOR ALL OF THESE ARE SOLD OUT. Which is why we think it’s a good idea to more formally establish wait lists for these shows now. Members, please go to the SIGN UP! tab where you will see waitlist sign ups … as in all such cases, these will be first come, first served. If a MWC’er finds they are unable to use a ticket they have already purchased, we will put you in touch with each other….
First 2019 production we’re seeing is TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, the Broadway adaptation of Harper Lee’s classic work by no less than AARON SORKIN with Jeff Bridges playing American everyman, Atticus Finch. The MWC has tickets for the Wednesday, January 9th matinee. Several MWC’ers have already seen it an previews and have been agog.
Next is THE FERRYMAN, the Jez Butterworth follow-up to his acclaimed JERUSALEM. The MWC is attending the Saturday matinee on January 12th. This show was a knock out in London last year and is continuing to wow audiences here.
Finally, on Saturday, April 13th at 1pm the MWC has secured tickets to THE LEHMAN TRILOGY being performed in an experiential sort of space – the Drill Hall at the Park Avenue Armory. This is a very short run for a remarkable work for which we were very, very fortunate to have secured a block of seats.
